Malteza Atelier

Together with the couturist behind Malteza Atelier I made a concept for a couple of her designs. The challenge for me was to make a visual translation from her vision to the photo. She really wants to empower woman with her designs, so I resolved that visually into a power walking pose with hard lighting, with big gold lashes and make-up. For me it was challenging to keep everyone focused on set, but everyone worked really calm and professional, which helped making the results look high-end and powerful.

Love Handles

Together with bagdesigner Grytsje Suze I created a concept around her newest bag design the 'Love Handles'. A leather bag with colorful, heartshaped handles. The challenge was to make a visual story about a bag. We decided to make a series of six photos. The first one is about isolation, and the last one about connection. The idea behind this was to let the bag represent connection, because 'Love Handles'. Also the bags are really colorful. The designer and I wanted to represent that by choosing two models with a different ethnic background and colorful styling. The production was completely handled by me, arranged the team, and helped everyone to be at their best during the shoot.

Editorial Bee

For this editorial I had an idea to theme everything around bees. The challenge was to put everything together myself, because I wanted to make something high-level with a low budget. After doing research about bees, on how they look and what different types there are, like you have working bees, honey bees and queen bees, I decided to make shots around these different type of bees to get a sort of a hook to start with. I started arranging a model that was good at 'flow' posing. Meffy Effet did a really good job doing that. I asked a MUA to put yellow and black make-up on the model. The MUA came up with the idea of fading the lips from black to yellow, which I really liked, so decided to give it a go. I arranged the styling myself, and wanted some fuzzy clothes, big sunglasses etc. I shot it with a 14mm as if you look through the eye of a bee. And of course, bees have a queen, so I asked the model to pose like she is the strong queen.
